REPORT FROM THE MOSCOW NODE

 

  1. The Node was set up in 1994 and we have already a history of our collaboration with MP. I’ll focus today on the results of 1997-'98 operations.
  2.  First, the node has made a step forward in its development and organizing networks in Russia and East European countries.

     If in 1996 some more than 20 scholars from Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belorassia, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, and Netherlands were involved in activity of node than 1997 about 50 scholars and officials from Russia, Belirussia. Ukraine, Moldavia, Poland, Hungary took part in Global Out- look study and Lessens of History. Representative from Belorussia, Dr. Slonimsky (Belorussian Academy of Sciences) and representative from Ukraine Dr. Kavunenko were invited to be a member of Advisory committee of Russian node and they accepted the invitation.

     We are also in collaboration with scholars from Estonia and Bulgaria and may be we’ll invite some of them in our study next year.

     

  3. Advancing the results of study to scientific community.

    Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS), some research institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), International Kondratieff Foundation (IKF), Association of Forecasting and Cycles have received "State of the Future" in order to use the results of our study in their projects as well as in order to advance their knowledge about the global problems and about the future as a whole.

     

  5. Presentations at the conferences.

    I have presented the results of study at the

     

    Annual conference of Russian futurists at the plenary section

    Some outputs of Future Report were presented at the local interdisciplinary seminar which was organized for scientists and policy- makers.

    Eleonora Masiny, Knut Eric Solem and me presented some results of study at the regional symposium of WFSF in Reykjavik

     

    At the WFSF conference in Australia I have been a coordinator of section S&T and I have put forward for discussion some of the issues from MP as well as I have included some actions suggested by the experts in framework of MP Global out – Look study into my report at the plenary section.

     

  7. Advancing the results of study to policy makers.

    State of the Future report is transferred to different institutions at the political level. We hope that some of the results of our study will be helpful in policy making.

     

  9. Advancing the results of study to education and advanced training.

    State of the Future Report was transferred to the

    Academy of Management, Ministry of Internal Affaires (This Academy provide the advanced training of top officials),

    Institute of Economy and Law, Ministry of Internal Affaires (this institute provide the training of middle level officials)

    Russian Academy for the Public Service under President of Russian Federation (this Academy provide advanced training of top officials for the federal executive powers and regional authorities)

  11. Publications

 

I have prepared three articles. Two of them will be published in Russia and one I hope will be published in Belorussi.

 

7. We have finished the proposal of the project " Complexity applied to Socio- Political Stability with application to Russia" and I have found about 15 American foundations, which support such kind of joint projects.

 

8. Russian node participated at the Global Out Look Study 97, History Lessons , carried out 9 intervuiws and took part at other current jobs of MP .
