South American Node - 1999-2000 Activities
TRANSLATION
In 1999 we begun the translation English to Spanish of the CD Rom

Frontiers of Future Studies: A Handbook of Tools and Methods, with collaboration of the National Congress Traducers corps of Argentina Republic.

So far we’ve finished the 80% of the translation.

We haven’t been able to translate the State of the Future 1999. The translation will cost U$S 9000 and the time estimate to do it is of 70 days

Material of Millennium Project had been used during 1999 on the following institutions:

 A curricular design for courses, interactive seminaries and training seminaries had been made on the following areas: WEB Page We continued working on our Home Page http://www.global-latino.com. The impacts reached more than 50,000 per month, which means an increased on 200% and the download of information is more than 2, 5 millions of KB monthly.

There have been 400 user registers from more than 20 countries in the last six months.

We would need a specific financial and commercial consultant in order to made a project capable to present potential investors.
 

 PROJECTS OF AGREEMENT We’ve started preliminary discussion on cooperation agreement with: TEMATIC SPECIALIZED LIBRARY We’ve started publishing electronic editions of papers and work documents made by center members. In the last six months we produced and incorporate at our library the following works and papers written by other users of all Latin America

    During 1999, many of the CeLGyP members work focused on the concretion of the International Seminary announced in our report in the last Planning Committee Meeting, as you can see in the attached program, with the acceptation by all of the participants. Unfortunately, the founds promised by a Secretaría de Ciencia y Técnica of Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad de San Martín, Sistema Económico Latinoamericano y Centro Europeo de Formación en Integración Regional, weren’t available, and this caused the suspension during September

    We‘ve received by organizers of III Jornadas Iberoamericanas de Prospectivas, held in Brasilia on September of 1999, the commission to organize the last of the five Subregional meeting of IV Jornadas, this will be preparatory to a Summit in 2001. The main objective of the Summit will be a preparation of Alternative Scenery of Development for Latin America 2020. The tentative program for these meetings is the following:
     

  • Cuba, Universidad de La Habana, January of 2000-
  • Mexico, UNESCO Cathedra over Universidad and the Regional Integration UNAM- FLACSO, Costa Rica y Mexico.
  • Brazil, Universidad de Pelotas
  • Colombia, Medellín y Bogota, Subnodo Colombia of Millennium Project
  • Buenos Aires, Latin-American Node of Millennium Project

    • UNESCO would fund a meeting with U$S 5,000.00; for organization

    The estimated total cost is U$S 15/30,000.00 if includes in the sum flight tickets and hotel to the participants.

    Our suggestion would be to make it coincide with a Latin-American Node Millennium Symposium, sharing cost with UNESCO.
